Earl L. Ross, 74, of Iowa City, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, following a short fight with leukemia. A time of gathering for family and friends will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at Gay & Ciha Funeral Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Earl Ross memorial fund. Online condolences may

Earl Lloyd Ross was born May 29, 1943,
in Johnson County, Iowa, the son of Melvin and Jennie Ross. On May 2, 1964, he married Mary Lee Butterbaugh in Kahoka, Mo. Mary passed away in 2008. For many years, Earl worked on a local farm, and in the '80s began work with Autumn Park, from where he retired in 2015. He was a member of the North Liberty Saddle Club and the Iowa City Ocean Waves Square Dance Club. When not dancing, Earl was likely enjoying a card game, shooting pool, and in recent years, enjoying several of the winter weeks in Texas with his significant other, Regina.
His family includes his children, Melvin Ross (Kelley) of Chandler, Ariz., and Michelle Walls (Matt Gagel) of Coyle, Okla.; significant other, Regina Kopsieker of Iowa City; grandchildren, Spencer Ross and Tabatha Powers; a great-grandchild, McKenna; sisters, Barbara Butterbaugh of Keokuk, Marge Glick of South Carolina and Julie Briggs (Gene) of Keokuk; and brother, Bill Ross (Kris) of North Liberty.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; parents; and an infant sister.
