Earl Reeve, 85, died Dec. 3, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services, with military honors: 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Bob (Barb) Reeve and Holly (DeWayne) Svoboda; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and brothers, Perry (Pauline Tyrrell) Reeve and Bill (Carol) Reeve.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, James; four brothers and two sisters.
Earl was born July 29, 1929, in Kent, Iowa, to his parents, Cleo and Myrtle (Schofield) Reeve. He married Mary Ross in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on April 17, 1954. Earl was the shop supervisor for the City of Cedar Rapids Streets Department, retiring in 1991 after 40 years.
Earl was a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles No. 2272, VFW Post 788, American Legion Hanford Post, and Disabled American Vets.
He was a Korean War Navy veteran, serving from 1948 to 1952.
He was a loving husband and father and loved his grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him.
