Earl E. Langfitt, 77, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, under the care of UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospice. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 22, at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood, Cedar Rapids. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Linwood Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will then host a reception from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Moose Lodge, 1820 West Post Rd. SW, Cedar Rapids.
Earl was born Feb. 27, 1941, in Grand Junction, Iowa, to Orland and Naomi (Brown) Langfitt. He was united in marriage to Sandra Tollefson on July 8, 1962, in Decorah.
Earl worked at Link Belt Speeder for 16 years and later retired from Midwest Metal as a metal welder. He enjoyed woodworking. Earl was always ready to lend a hand. His family will remember him for his strength and love.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandra of Cedar Rapids; three children, Teresa (Danny) Wagner of Gilbert, Ariz., Tami (Reid) Boyer of Cedar Rapids and Brian Langfitt of Marion; eight grandchildren, Adam and Allison Lyons, Samantha Wagner, Annie and Steven Pahl, and Harrison, Ewan and Catcher Langfitt; and siblings, Betty Bramow, Opal Miller, Robert (Nancy) Langfitt and Jean Korff.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Sonny Langfitt, Alma Gilmore and Donald Langfitt.
