Earl L. Huber, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at St. Matthew Catholic Church. The Rev. Steve Garner will officiate. Private family inurnment: Mount Calvary Cemetery, at a later date. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where there will be a vigil service at 3 p.m. There also will be a visitation at the church after 9 a.m. Monday.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa; three sons, E. David (Paula), Kenneth (Jodi) and Brian and his fiancee, Doris Ackerman, all of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Barbara (Lee) Carlson of LaQuinta, Calif., Bonnie (John) Lepley of Henderson, Nev., and Mary of Irvine, Calif.; six grandchildren, David, Michael, Sarah, Nathan, Jordan and Jacob; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Conrad; and a sister, Ruth Waldron.
Earl was born Dec. 7, 1927, in Decorah, the son of Hugo and Edna Sobolik Huber. He married Theresa M. Kriener on May 1, 1951, in Waucoma. Earl farmed in the Decorah area for several years. He later worked at Farmstead for over 20 years. Most recently, he was employed by French Paint and Huber Enterprises.
Earl was a faithful member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church. He enjoyed cards, gardening and woodworking.
Earl's greatest joy in life was the time spent with his many friends and beloved family.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established.
