Earl Eugene Heitman, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Services will be at a later date. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his two sons, Steven Heitman of Rockland, Mich., and Robert Heitman of Cedar Rapids; and two brothers, John and Norbert Heitman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Louene; two brothers, Virgil and Cecil Heitman; and one sister, Lorraine Williams.
Earl was born April 24, 1922, the son of John and Matilda (Penn) Heitman. He served with the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II on the island of Iwo Jima. On July 6, 1947, Earl married Louene Wetzlich in Waterloo. She passed away in November 2008.
Earl worked as a sales representative for McKee Enterprises in St. Paul, Minn. He also was aboard the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., in June 2012. Earl was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.
