Dwight A. Wilbanks, 54, of Marion, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, of cancer. Memorial service: 3 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, followed by a reception until
5 p.m. Inurnment: at a later date.
Dwight is survived by his wife, Redemptna Aguilar; son, Jacob Aylsworth of Savannah, Mo.; four grandchildren; mother, Martha (Hugh) Ellingson of Marion; sister, Susan Wilbanks of Marion; brothers, Timothy Wilbanks of Cedar Rapids and Eric Wilbanks of Tiffin; six nieces and nephews; and many extended family members, colleagues and friends.
Dwight was born in Midland, Mich., on Nov. 24, 1966, to Robert and Martha (Neal) Wilbanks. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 1985. He later worked as a self-employed computer programmer, working in the Dallas/Fort Worth areas and, more recently, in Shenzhen, China. He married Redemptna Aguilar Jan. 7, 2015, in North Liberty. Dwight was an outgoing, trustworthy and adventurous man. He enjoyed computers, researching state of the art technology, singing karaoke and going to parties. Dwight will be missed by all who know and love him.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be given to the American Cancer Society.
