Dvorak, Beatrice
Beatrice Dvorak, 84, of Chelsea, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at the Belle Plaine Nursing & Rehab Center. A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Chelsea. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church, with a vigil service beginning at 7 p.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Chelsea.
Beatrice Agnes Dvorak was born April 20, 1928, in Chelsea, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Vavroch) Musel. She was a 1946 graduate of Chelsea High School. On Jan. 20, 1948, she was united in marriage to Donald William Dvorak at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Beaty worked several years as a cook and a teacher's aide for the South Tama County Schools.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Altar & Rosary Society, Foresters and the American Legion Auxiliary. Beaty also served as a Chelsea City Council member and later volunteered at the Marshalltown Veterans Home as well as South Tama County Schools. She enjoyed any opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren, quilting, sewing, gardening and reading a good book.
Beaty will be remembered for making delicious kolaches and holiday meals.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Dvorak; two brothers, Bernie and Don Musel; and a brother-in-law, James Ledvina.
Beaty is survived by a daughter, Sister Shirley Shafranek OSF of Tiffin, Ohio; four sons, Jim (Shari) Dvorak of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., Joe (Peg) Dvorak of Colfax, Jerry (Nikki) Dvorak of Tampa, Fla., and Tom (Jackie) Dvorak of Chelsea; a sister, Sharlene “Skip” Ledvina of Chelsea; a brother, Bob (Joyce) Musel of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Musel of Belle Plaine and Audrey Musel of Toledo; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Chelsea Public Library or St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
