DuWayne Reade passed on Dec. 18, 2014, of cancer.
DuWayne was born Oct. 11, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to his parents, Charles and Pearl Reade. A member of the U.S. Navy, DuWayne served during the Vietnam War. After completing his service to our country, he was employed by A.W. Schmidt as a truck driver.
An avid sports fan, DuWayne enjoyed supporting local racing, as well as NASCAR. He was an avid Hawkeyes, Chiefs and Cubs fan.
A strong family man as well, he was known for being a strong role model as to what it meant to be a father, as he helped raise his niece as a daughter.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; his sons, Daniel (Tanya) Reade, Brent (Milaena) Reade and Jeremy Reade; his daughters, Jennifer (Mike) Schilling and Kristal (Dan) Long; his niece, Danielle Riley; his eight grandkids; his brothers, Tracey (Luci) Reade and Graydon Reade; and his close friend, Jay Irving.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Terry Reade.
Visitation will be at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Dec. 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. Services will be at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories at 11 a.m. Dec. 23. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
