Duwa, Velma L. (Whitlock)
Celebration of life memorial service for 78-year-old, Velma L. (Whitlock) Duwa of Arizona, formerly of Riverside, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Riverside, with Pastor Betsey Neipert officiating. Private family burial will be held at the Riverside Public Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Peterseim Funeral Home, Kalona.
A general memorial fund has been established.
Velma Lou Duwa was born July 30, 1931, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Cloyd E. and Velma Jane (Younkin) Whitlock. She was united in marriage to Edward W. Duwa in Quincy, Ill., on April 3, 1950. Velma was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Riverside, and the Riverside VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed painting, spending time with her grandkids and family, reading, crocheting, camping and traveling.
Survivors include her husband, Ed of Apache Junction, Ariz.; one son, Ron (Cindy) Duwa of Iowa City; two daughters, Andrea Watkinson of Mesa, Ariz., and Lori (David) TeBockhorst of Kalona; seven grandchildren; and one brother, Cloyd (Dawn) Whitlock of Riverside.
Preceding Velma in death were her parents; one sister, Donna Whiting; and three brothers, Doran and Darris Whitlock and an infant.
