Duvall, Robert Jr.
Robert Duvall Jr., 53, of Walford, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010, following a five-year battle with colorectal cancer. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at John XXIII Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with a 7 p.m. Scripture wake service followed by the rosary. Visitation also will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Elaine; two daughters, Lauren and Jacqui; and a grandson, Riley, all of Walford.
He leaves behind his mother, Norma Mitchell (Ed) of Altoona; his father, Bob Duvall Sr. (Yvonne) of Kimberling City, Mo.; a sister, Kim Graeve (Doug) of Westminster, Colo.; a brother, Ted Duvall of Altoona; his aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews; and his second family of in-laws.
Robert was born March 19, 1957, in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Buhler High School in Buhler, Kan., and attended junior college and Iowa State University. The majority of his career was spent in distribution and warehouse management, and eventually real estate.
Robert married Elaine Weber July 30, 1988, and felt blessed to help raise two beautiful and kind girls whom he was immensely proud of. He dearly loved his grandson and made the most of their brief time together. Though his time on earth was too short, Robert lived a full life and created countless wonderful memories with family and friends. His dedication and love for his family was unstoppable. Robert lived big, loved big and made a lasting impression on everyone who met him.
The Duvalls send thanks to everyone who offered their love and support during Robert's illness. Special thanks to the team at St. Luke's Hospice for their professionalism and compassion.
Memorials will go toward a college fund for the Duvall children.
