Dusil, Christine Emanuel
Christine Emanuel Dusil, 56, died Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, surrounded by her family in Norway following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Services: 10 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, by Father Jack McClure C.PP.S. Burial: St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Parish Center, followed by a Rosary.
Chris was born May 28, 1953, in Cedar Rapids to Richard and Betty (Starnes) Emanuel. She graduated from Norway High School Class of '71. She married Alan Dusil at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Jan. 22, 1972. She worked at the Ox Yoke Restaurant for 17 years and then at the Ronneburg Restaurant for 20 years. She was currently working as manager at the Landmark Restaurant in Williamsburg at the time of her illness.
Chris loved meeting new people and visiting with them. She loved playing golf and board games such as cribbage and backgammon with anyone, and especially with her granddaughter Veronica. She was also an avid reader.
Survivors include her husband, Alan, daughter, Tara (Scott) Crawford, grandchildren, Veronica (15) and Megan (4), all in Cedar Rapids; sisters, Penny Rowland of Norway, Annie (Jim) Volz of Amana, Linda Hollingsworth of Orlando, Fla., Bobbie (Harlan) Van Vark of Pella; one aunt, Erma Stallman of Fairfax; one uncle, Duane (Neoma) Starnes of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her father, Richard; and two brothers, Rick and Nick Emanuel.
Chris' family would like to extend their gratitude and special thanks to Kaye and all of Mercy of Hospice in Cedar Rapids.
