Dunn, Steven Burke
Steven Burke Dunn, 53, of Stone Mountain, Ga., passed away June 26, 2009, in a work-related accident in South Florida.
Steve was born Dec. 3, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, was raised in Millersburg, Iowa, and graduated from Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School. In 1978, he graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.S. degree in industrial engineering. Steve worked in the asphalt industry for most of his career and was owner and president of PaveSmart, servicing and selling equipment throughout North America.
Steve is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Mollie, a student at the University of Alabama; sons, Mitch, a high school senior at home, Jordan (Laura) of Denver, Colo., and Jeff (Crystal Summers) of Dallas; grandsons, Braden and Keegan of Denver, Colo.; brother and sisters, Tom (Sheila) of West Des Moines, Jill (Jim) Bristow and Janet (Mike) Avery of Hemet, Calif., and Shirley (Ken) Peckosh of Robins; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Services were July 2 at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 5801 Hugh Howell Rd., Stone Mountain, GA 30087. A memorial fund was established through the church.
Steve's love and devotion to his family and friends was his highest priority. His quick wit and charisma rewarded him with the friendship of nearly everyone he met throughout his life. Steve's life was guided by the principles he learned in youth: to be loved, you must love; to have friends, be a friend; to succeed, work hard; and to be happy, give thanks for all your blessings. Steve is held dear in the hearts of many.
