Dunn, Irwin K.
Irwin K. Dunn of 1106 Weeber St., Iowa City, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, April 9, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after a sudden illness. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military rites. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; a daughter, Lori Dunn of Chicago; three stepsons, Steven McCall and Christopher McCall, both of Pensacola, Fla., and Richard McCall of Ames. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Kelsey Northcutt and Jordan Owens; one great-grandchild, Alexis Northcutt; and two stepgrandchildren, James and Amy.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet; and two sons, Michael and Jay.
Irwin was born Jan. 17, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Iva and Esther (Johnson) Dunn. In 1959, he graduated from the University of Iowa, where he excelled in baseball for the Iowa team. Irwin worked at Square D and retired from there after more than 25 years of service. He married Joan L. McCall on Oct. 31, 1993, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Irwin was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Society of Electrical Engineers, National Management Association, Iowa Hawkeye Alumni Association, as well as proudly serving in the Army with the 101st Airborne Division. He enjoyed all sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Memorial donations may be given to the American Heart Association.
