Helen Perales was born Sept. 4, 1928, in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Daniel and Elvira (Guerra) Perales. She married Lewis M. Dundon on Nov. 25, 1947, in San Antonio. The couple and their family moved to Iowa in 1960.
Helen worked in food service at the former Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City for several years, but mostly she loved being wife and mom to her family! She was a member of Prince the Peace Lutheran Church in Coralville and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Her family includes her children, John Dundon (Maryanne) of East Jacksonville, Ill., Susan Anderson (Bud Bostwick) of Seymour, Iowa, Sally Ann Stange (Tom) of Coralville, Sam Dundon of Iowa City and Sandra Wray (Tom) of Riverside; many loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Antonia Beall of Marion and Margie Kleinschmidt (Rudy) of Strongsville, Ohio; brother, Tom Perales of Sacramento, Calif.; and sons-in-law, Bill Heitzman of North Liberty and Bruce Miller of Fairfield, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lewis; son, Lewie Dundon; daughters, Nancy Heitzman and Jill Miller; and son-in-law, George Anderson.
A special thanks to the compassionate, sincere care given our mother and grandmother from the awesome individuals of Lantern Park Care Center, and we would also like to thank Care Initiatives Hospice for their assistance.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Helen's memory.
Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web at www.gayandciha.com.
