Duffy, Richard L. 'Dick'
MARENGO - Richard L. “Dick” Duffy, 67, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo from complications of Alzheimer's disease. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Marengo, with the Rev. Douglas Morton officiating. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Marengo. Inurnment will be 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is in charge of arrangements.
Richard is survived by his wife, Jeanne Duffy; and two children, Susan Duffy of Blairstown and David Duffy of Marengo. He is also survived by siblings, Robert (JoAnne) Duffy of Clive, Sandy (Vern) Gerard of Guernsey and Pete (Ellen) Duffy of Garner.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; a sister-in-law, Dorene Duffy; his grandparents; and his father-in-law, Raymond Coffland.
Richard Lee Duffy was born May 25, 1943, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Clarence William and Dorothy Bryant Duffy. He attended the State Center schools and graduated from Iowa Valley High School in 1960. He married Jeanne Ellen Coffland on Sept. 3, 1966, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. Richard worked for Amana Appliances, Bush Hog Krauss, and retired from Centro Inc. as a warehouse supervisor. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Marengo. Dick was a baseball catcher, and played for numerous teams. He enjoyed riding horses, hunting, and spending time with his faithful companion, AJ.
Memorials may be contributed to the Alzheimer's Foundation or St. John's Lutheran Church, Marengo.
