Duffy, Jack L.
Jack L. Duffy, 85, of Fairbank, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, in Oelwein Healthcare. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 2, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, with Father Paul McManus and Deacon Rich Wallace officiating. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank. Burial: I.C. Cemetery, Fairbank.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; four sons, Mike (Judy) Duffy, Tim (Jeanette) Duffy, Tony (Sherry) Duffy, all of Fairbank, and Ted (Susan) Duffy of LaCrescent, Minn.; four daughters, Clarice (Steve) Levey of Lindstrom, Minn., Carol Duffy of Cedar Falls, Nancy (Rich) Wallace of Cedar Rapids and Norma (Kevin) Westendorf of Readlyn; one daughter-in-law, Nina Duffy of Dibble, Okla.; 27 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Gladys Mahoney of Oelwein, Kaye Nelson of Rockford, Ill., Bettie Anderson of Harlan and Audrey Selander of Birmingham, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mark Duffy; two grandchildren, Christopher Wallace and Joshua Menuey; a brother, Warren Duffy; and a sister, Sister Mary Carol Duffy.
He was born June 4, 1927, in rural Dunkerton, Iowa, to Leo J. and Anna A. Kane Duffy. He married Dorothy Elizabeth Kane on Oct. 24, 1949 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank.
Jack started out as a farmer, followed by working as a mechanic, he then worked as a plumber and electrician for many years and finally worked for the City of Fairbank retiring after 18 years. Jack was a lifelong member of I.C. Church in Fairbank and was a longtime member of the Fairbank Knights of Columbus as well as a member of the Fairbank Fire Department.
