Duecker, Hollis W.
Hollis W. Duecker, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, March 23, 2013, in St. Luke's Hospital. Memorial Services: 2 p.m. Thursday at the South Marion United Methodist Church, Stratford, Iowa, by the Rev. Gina Sponheimer. Private inurnment: South Marion Cemetery, Stratford. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia C. Duecker; his children, Lynn E. (Cynthia Penn) Duecker of Piedmont, Calif., Ann M. (Richard) Lem of Kelley and Karl E. (Gwen) Duecker of Monticello; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Hollis was born Jan. 23, 1924, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of August and Ruth Wentworth Duecker. He married Virginia C. Crim on Aug. 7, 1949, in Stratford. Hollis was employed by General Motors as an insurance adjuster. He served in the Army during World War II. He enjoyed golf, art work, history and traveling.
