Duane Arthur "Pappy" Weaver, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died at home surrounded by family Monday, May 26, 2014. Arrangements are being made by Cedar
Memorial Westside Chapel, where a visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 30. Private family burial will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Survivors include a son, Don (Teresa) Weaver of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Nikki (Larry) Ellis, Kelle Weaver and Shannon (Angela) Weaver, all of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Chad (Petra) Hayslett, Kerri (Scott) Miller, Yvonne Rogers and Kendra (Zach Davidson) McCormick; nine great-grandchildren, Kale, Karsyn, Darby, Dawson, Olivia, Jada, Maeci, Clayton and Carter; a sister, Jerry Grimm; and granddaughter-in-law, Nicole.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne; son, David; grandson, Todd Weaver; a sister, Betty Walker; brother, Dale Weaver; and a special friend, Karen Walter.
Duane was born July 15, 1934, in Marion, Iowa. He was the son of Earl and Marie Hughes Weaver. Duane worked for Great Plains as a truck driver for over 20 years. On March 26, 1953, Duane and Yvonne Beltz were united in marriage in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Duane loved his children and grandchildren more than anything. He was an avid fisherman, camper and loved to go boating. He liked to play cards and gamble at the casino with friends.
