Duane H. Kramer, 82, died Thursday, June 21, 2018, at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2018, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Urbana with the Rev. Ardel Barta as celebrant. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, rural Urbana, with graveside military rites conducted by the Walter J. Meyocks American Legion Post 264 and United States Marine Corps Military Honors. A rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. followed by visitation from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday at St. Mary's in Urbana. A memorial fund has been established.
Duane was born on Oct. 7, 1935, in Urbana, the son of Lawrence and Alice (Willford) Kramer. He graduated from Urbana High School. Duane served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 through 1956 during the Korean conflict. On Oct. 31, 1955, he was united in marriage to Yvonne Roseberry at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spencer's Grove.
Duane worked as a foreman for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids for 35 years. He was an active member at St. Mary's, said the rosary twice daily and enjoyed studying the Bible, Catholic history and the saints. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Walter J. Meyocks American Legion Post in Urbana. Duane enjoyed fishing and hunting, and loved wintering in Texas. He also enjoyed his iPhone and Facebook. His greatest joy was spending time with Michelle, Steve, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Steve) Foley of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Melissa (Jacy) Watts of Marion, Melanie (Ambrea) Manley and Michael Foley of Hamilton, Ill., Ashley (fiance Rob Deason) Foley of Cedar Rapids and Jennica (fiance Daniel Zwick) Foley of Hills; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Parker Watts, Sophia Deason and Patriot Manley; sister, Kathy (Gary) Durow of Center Point; brothers, Keith (Judy) Kramer of Urbana, Brian (Susan) Kramer of Center Point and Michael (Terrie) Kramer of Urbana; and his brother-in-law, Leo (Madonna) Roseberry of Urbana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Yvonne; and his grandson, Ryan Duane.
