Duane C. Kueter, 71, of Oxford, died Thursday of injuries following a tractor accident.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oxford, with Father Edmond Dunn officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 5:30 p.m. at the church, where a vigil service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Little Hawk Baseball Club (LHBC), Box 3013, Iowa City, IA 52244-3013.
Duane was born Nov. 5, 1945, in Bellevue, Iowa, the son of Ben and Viola Ernst Kueter. He was a graduate of Bellevue-Marquette High School. On May 7, 1966, Duane married Sharon Hughes in Delmar, Iowa.
Duane had been employed at Pearson for over 41 years.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church. Duane loved time spent on the farm and riding his Harley. He was an avid supporter of Southeast Football, the Little Hawk Baseball Club and the Eastern Iowa Wrestling Club.
Most important to Duane was his love of family.
Duane is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, and their sons, Brian (Kari) of Williamsburg and Scott (Tina) of Iowa City; six grandsons, Benjamin Kueter, Samuel Kueter, Colton Kueter, Andrew Kueter-Chadwick, Joseph Kueter and Matthew Kueter; eight siblings, Carl (Diane) Kueter of Miles, Dean (Cindy) Kueter of Potomac, Md., Marcy (Don) Schmeider of Appleton, Wis., Jeanette Booth of St. Paul, Minn., Mimi (Greg) Harrison of Appleton, Wis., Julie (Tony) Fondell of Wausau, Wis., Barb (Bob) Zupancich of Tomah, Wis., and Bev Kueter of Dubuque; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Evie, and brother, Kenneth; and brother-in-law, Bill Booth.
