Du Charme, Ronald E.
Ronald E. Du Charme, 55, of rural Watkins, died Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 14, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a stroke. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Christopher Podhajsky. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Papich-Kuba Janeba Chapel West, 1604 J St. SW, Cedar Rapids, where a rosary begins at 5:30 p.m.
Ron is survived by his wife, Wendy Baltisberger; children, Doria (Richard) Cook, Chelsea Petrie and Angela Petrie, all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Lauryn, Kiily, Tavian, Isabella and Layla; father, George W. Du Charme, Cedar Rapids; brothers and sister, Randy (Missy) Du Charme and George L. (Lori) Du Charme, both of Cedar Rapids, Gary S. (Cheryl) Du Charme, Vinton, and Victoria (Ryan) Sullivan, Cedar Rapids; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Betty A. Du Charme.
Ronald was born Sept. 28, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, the son of George and Betty (Duha) Du Charme. He was a graduate of Regis High School and lived most of his life in the Cedar Rapids and Watkins area. Ron was self-employed in the home remodeling and construction industry. He was an Army veteran and attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council 909 in Cedar Rapids and the NRA.
A memorial fund has been established in Ron's name.
