Drew, Daniel

Daniel Drew, 86, of Decorah, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at Wellington Place Nursing Home in Decorah. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Decorah, with the Rev. Phil Gibbs presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Schluter-Balik Funeral Home in Decorah, where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. on Monday.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Betty Mae Drew of Decorah; three daughters, Sheila Drew of Overland Park, Kan., Mary (Dan) Taiber of Cedar Rapids and Lisa Drew of Cedar Rapids; three sons, John Drew of Oskaloosa, Kevin Drew of Decorah and Peter (Lisa) Drew of St. Joseph, Minn.; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Drew of Decorah; six grandchildren, Justin, Andrew, Jenna and Benjamin Taiber and Nicholas and Samuel Drew; two stepgrandchildren, Ben and Jennifer Kidd; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Kay Drew of Hampton, Rosemary Gerleman of Decorah, Gerald (Pat) Timp of Calmar and Sister Selma Timp OSF of Dubuque; Daniel's uncle, Sylvester Carolan of Decorah; along with many nieces and nephews.

Daniel was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Drew on June 6, 2006; his parents, Raymond and Theresa Drew; his father- and mother-in-law, Philip and Alexia Timp; two brothers, Robert (Irene) Drew and Ray Drew; and a special aunt, Pearl Drew.

The Drew family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Wellington Place Nursing Home for their wonderful care of Daniel over the last five years.
