Dr. Ronald Clare Larson, DVM, 93, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Terrace Glen Village in Marion. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church (3634 1st Avenue NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402). A private inurnment will be held at a later date at White Oak Cemetery in Forreston, Illinois.
Ron was born on February 22, 1932, in Clarion, Iowa, the son of Clarence Arthur and Gertrude Irene (Sathre) Larson. He was a graduate of Goldfield High School and earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University and a master's degree in Public Health from the University of Iowa. Ron served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On June 23, 1962, he was united in marriage to Ann Elizabeth Beebe in Forreston, Illinois. Ron was employed at Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, West Virginia. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
In his free time, he loved being outdoors, gardening, spending time with his family, and working on sudoku puzzles. He enjoyed traveling with Ann, especially to Norway, and was a devoted fan of Iowa Hawkeyes football, as well as both men’s and women’s basketball. Ron will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ron is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Ann Larson; children, Dr. David (Dr. Susan) Larson, MD, Douglas (Julia) Larson, Dr. Judith (James, Esq) Vinch, DVM; grandchildren, Kathleen Larson, Denise Larson, Esq (fiancé Elán Guzmán), Derrick Larson, Daniel (Montana) Larson, and Adam Vinch.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sharon Hoffman.
Memorials in Ron’s memory may be directed to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church or Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine.
