Dr. Page Eppele, 85, died peacefully Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, at his son's home in Palo, after a long illness.
He was preceded in death by two older brothers, an older sister, a son-in-law, and his wife of 44 years, Clara J. Eppele.
Born on Jan. 14, 1929, he was reared in Florida and entered into military service at the end of World War II, serving first in the Army Air Corps, subsequently transferring to the U.S. Air Force upon its establishment in 1947. He attended college at the University of Florida and later received his doctorate in veterinarian medicine from Auburn University. He was a member of the Shriners for more than 60 years and most recently involved with the hospital dad's unit.
He is survived by two sisters, Ms. Margaret Younger of San Marcos Texas and Ms. Elizabeth Swanson of Gainesville, Fla.; two daughters, two sons, seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and their respective families.
Service are pending with interment planned near his childhood home in Florida.
The family wishes to express their appreciation for the skilled and caring services provided by Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids; and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City; during his recent illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the American Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
