Doyle, Scott Anthony
Scott Anthony Doyle, 50, of Marion, died peacefully Nov. 18, 2011, at his home, after a year long struggle with throat cancer. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Scott will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph Center in New Hampton, with Father Mark Osterhaus celebrating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Hampton. Military rites will be provided by the New Hampton American Legion Fae Stine Post 38 and New Hampton VFW Post 5238. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the St. Joseph Gathering Space on Tuesday.
Scott was born in Dubuque, Iowa on Aug. 2, 1961, to Donald and Cecilia Doyle. After school he joined the Army Reserve in Decorah and played drums with the Cheyenne band formed by Scott and his brothers, Mike and Brian. Scott worked in construction and later moved to Marion to be closer to his parents and be able to help them whenever necessary.
Just as Scott helped them, his mom and aunt (Sister Marie Barth of the Presentation Sisters), have given Scott the best possible care over his last few weeks. And gracious thanks to the crew of nurses and doctors from St. Luke's and hospice workers that helped above and beyond.
Scott was blessed with the lifetime friendship of Brent Nordhus and Shirley Koshatka.
Scott is survived by his mother, Cecilia of Marion; brothers, Mike (Pam) Doyle of Texas, Brian (Bonnie) Doyle of Montana and Chris (Kathy) Doyle of Cedar Falls; and sister, Donna (John) Burgart of New Hampton.
Scott was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick; his father, Donald; paternal grandparents, Jerome and Marie; and maternal grandparents, Fred and Veronica.
Scott will be missed by all of us for his kindness, his ability to listen, and his generosity.
