Doyle, Gerald Duane
Gerald Duane Doyle, 84, of Anamosa, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011, surrounded by his family. Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa. Father Wayne Droessler will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa, where a Scripture service will be held at 4 p.m. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Anamosa.
Surviving are his children, Nancy (Edwin) Barnes of Anamosa, Barb (Ed) Plauer of Anamosa, Keith (Sheree) Doyle of Monticello and Kevin (Beth) Doyle of Monticello; eight grandchildren, Kimberly, Jason, Krista, Tammy, Mike, Jacob, Lacy and Lizy; one great-grandchild, Cody; and a sister, Donna (Dewain) Fluckiger of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Adeline; and infant daughter, Mary Jane.
Gerald Duane Doyle was born July 15, 1926, in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Leslie and Emma (Andresen) Doyle. Gerald was a 1944 graduate of Anamosa High School. He worked for Wilson's Meat Plant in Cedar Rapids for a few years after high school. On Sept. 7, 1948, Gerald and Adeline Holub were united in marriage at St. Joseph's Church in Prairieburg.
He was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa. Gerald enjoyed fishing, traveling to different places with Adeline to go dancing and spending time with his family and friends. Gerald's love of the land led him to farming, his true passion in life.
Gerald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother; he will be missed dearly by those closest to him.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Gerald's name.
