Doyle "Dean" Lawson, 80, of Cincinnati, Iowa, passed away Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, at his home.

Dean was born to Charles and Neoma (Richmond) Lawson on May 7, 1941, in Cincinnati, Iowa. He received his education from Cincinnati High School, graduating in 1958. On Feb. 16, 1963, Dean was united in marriage to Uldine "Dee" G. Frieden in Iowa City, Iowa.

Dean worked as a cement finisher for Ray Bertelli Construction and then became a heat and frost insulator for Taylor Insulation in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He and Dee retired to Cincinnati in 1997.

Survivors include his wife, Dee; children, Dixie Urban (Zeno), Laura Martin (Herb) and Jay Lawson (Angala); grandchildren, Jason Bowser (Rhonda), Joshua Bowser, Nicholas Bowser, Zachary Burns (Sara), Alisa Barker (Robert), Chance Tiedtke (Jennifer), Noah Tiedtke, Jackelyn Maloney (Sean) and Spenser Lawson (Haleigh Clark); 15 loving great-grandchildren; brothers, Ted Lawson (Patty) and Dennis Lawson (Vicky); sisters-in-law, Bev Brown (Jim) and Jan Frieden; brother-in-law, Burnell Frieden (Dawn); and numerous extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Shirley and Robert Thompson, Doretta Mae Glascock and Michael Lawson; his twin infant sister, Shelby Lawson; and a great-granddaughter, Gabriella Maloney.

Visitation will be Thursday with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at the funeral home with Pastor Eric Hoover officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati.
