Douglas William Weitnauer, 61, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 24, 2022. A memorial service celebrating Doug's life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 28, at Hope Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held before the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Memorials can be sent to Hope Lutheran Church, 2736 Bowling St. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404.
Doug is survived by his wife of 37 years, Beverly Weitnauer (Cedar Rapids, Iowa), and his three beloved children, Trevor Weitnauer (Cedar Rapids, Iowa), Cameron Weitnauer (Cedar Rapids, Iowa), and Jessica Weitnauer (Chicago, Ill.).
Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Patti Weitnauer; and his father, William Weitnauer.
Doug was born in West Virginia and raised in Monticello, Iowa. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1979. After graduation, Doug joined the Navy. Upon completion of his naval obligations, he returned to Iowa and became a long-time employee of Ryan Company US. Doug was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church, and enjoyed his participation in many church activities, including the choir and the church counsel. He loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
