Douglas, Ronald E. 'Ronnie'
Ronald E. “Ronnie” Douglas, 69, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital.
Ronnie was born Aug. 6, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, to Salome and Carroll Douglas. He had seven siblings. He attended Jefferson High School, then joined the Navy. During his time in the Navy Ronnie traveled the world - he spent four years overseas during which time he completed two tours of duty in Vietnam. He received an honorable discharge from the Navy after eight years of service and went on to become an elevator inspector for the state of Iowa. Ronnie was married to Roberta in 1966; together they had one son, Casey Douglas.
Ronnie was an avid carouser. He loved to have a good time and had a heart of gold. You could always count on him to be there with a hug and a joke in good times or bad.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ronnie didn't want a funeral, instead, we will be honoring him with a celebration of life at his favorite saloon, Gilligans Pub and Grub, at a later date.
