On Nov. 27, 2018, Douglas R. Lawson ("Dr. Dark") passed away at the age of 70 years due to complications from cancer.
Doug was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Judy (Boyd).
He is survived by his children, Marci (Dan) Stuart, Miles (Shannon) Lawson and Damian (Anna) Lawson; and grandchildren, Kaylee, Hannah, Layla and Lennon.
Doug was a driven and accomplished artist who was happiest creating drawings while blasting music. He was an avid musician, always jamming out on one of his many guitars. Music was central to his life, collecting different media, especially records. A lifelong Huskers fan, Doug enjoyed watching and playing sports throughout his life, including playing softball, tennis, lifting weights and boxing. He also loved reading and collecting books, and was a devoted volunteer for the Cedar Rapids Public Library during the last years of his life.
