Douglas L. Meyer, 68, of Clarence, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Funeral services: 2 p.m. Wednes-day, Jan. 27, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Clarence, by Pastor Tommi Boeder. Burial: Clarence Cemetery. Visitation: 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence and from 1 p.m. to service time Wednesday at the church.
Born Dec. 17, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Orville and Sally (Tacker) Meyer, he married Sandra McDaniel on Jan. 31, 1970, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence.
Doug was a service manager at Allen Motor Co. for 27 years. He loved to fish, golf, put together puzzles and attend stock car races. He was on the Clarence City Council, a past member of the Harmony Hawks and was a GM certified master technician. After retirement he became a custodian at North Cedar Community Schools.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra; daughters, Erica (Fred) Meyer of Iowa City and Stacey Meyer of Clarence; mother, Sally Meyer of Clarence; and sister, Janet (Ron Gunn) Rowell of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his father.
