Douglas McNamara, 63, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, at his home following a brief illness. A celebration
of Doug's life will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at the Wapsi Country Club, Anamosa. Friends may register after 1 p.m. at the club. The family requests people to come in casual attire just the way Doug would have wanted it. Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at Fidelity Bank and Trust in Anamosa.
Surviving are his wife, Kim; a son, Bret (Robyn), and grandson, Gavin, and his parents, Cletus and Olga McNamara, all of Anamosa; a sister, Sandie Tonne and her friend, Don, of Coralville; a brother-in-law, Lyle Tonne of Mechanicsville; his mother-in-law, Clarice Norton of Anamosa; two sisters-in-law, Wendy (John) Capron and Joni (Scott) Oltmanns, and a brother-in-law, Eric Norton, all of Anamosa; and many nieces and nephews.
Douglas Ray McNamara was born Oct. 17, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Cletus and Olga Bena McNamara. Doug graduated from the Anamosa Community Schools with the class of 1970. He then attended Kirkwood Community College for two years. Doug was employed at Tyler and Downing Grocery until it closed in 1986. He worked at Super Valu in Anamosa for several years before going to work at Stone Concepts, where he was currently employed.
Doug had been an outstanding golfer his whole life. He was on the Anamosa High School golf team, the Kirkwood golf team, was the Anamosa city champion numerous times, and club champion at both the Wapsi and Fawn Creek courses. He had served as chairman of the Eastern Iowa Golf Association and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. He also was inducted into the Wapsi Golf Club Hall of Fame. When he could not play golf he bowled and was a member of the 700 Club.
