Douglas Paul McKaig, 65, passed away Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at Mercy Iowa City following a sudden illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Rudolph Juarez officiating. Burial will be
at a later date at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital.
Doug was born March 8, 1953, in Minneapolis, the son of William and Betty Ann (Serrill) McKaig. On Sept. 17, 1994, Doug married Marlys Brown in Iowa City.
Doug was a 41-year employee of River Products in Iowa City. For the last 18 years, Doug served as the supervisor of the quality control department.
Doug enjoyed playing golf, model railroading and was a Viking and Hawkeye fan. Most important to Doug was time spent with his wife, sons and granddaughter.
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Marlys; two sons, Luke (Tina) of Kansas City, Mo., and their daughter, Ava, and Brandon of Minneapolis; and his brother, Stuart of Bella Vista, Ark.; his in-laws, Wes and Sheri Brown of Keokuk; sister and brothers-in-law; and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
