Douglas Lehnert, 73, of Mount Vernon, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, at the Church of God Seventh Day in Marion. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until the start of service.
Douglas was born in Medical Lake, Wash., on Nov. 15, 1941, to George and Emma (Barfuss) Lehnert. He served honorably in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant during the Korean War. He spent a portion of his life in Washington state before moving to Iowa. He was married to Dianna Mally in 2000.
Doug worked in sales and later owned and operated Doug's Service Station in Cedar Rapids. He was a man of very strong Christian faith.
He is survived by daughters Teresa (Robert) Hipkins of Washington state and Lisa (John) Rustenberg of Arizona; and stepchildren Deborah Mally, David (Melissa) Mally, Lisa (Seth) Spivak, Lori (Gordon) Gaster, James (Tiffany) Mally, Jeffery (Natasha) Mally, Michelle (Mike) Temple and Mark Mally. Doug was "Grandpa" to 41 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Florence Macrie of California.
He was preceded in death by his wonderful wife, Dianna Lehnert.
