Douglas Fay Leggett, 71, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at his home in West Branch surrounded by his loved ones.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge in West Branch.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Doug was born Sept. 30, 1945, in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Stuart and Frances (Pritchard) Leggett. He was a 1963 graduate of Monticello High School. On Feb. 16, 1991, he was united in marriage to Jacqueline "Jackie" Forbes at Danforth Chapel in Iowa City.
He had been employed at the creamery, transporting prisoners from the Anamosa Penitentiary and farmed north of Monticello, custom hay bailing and raising cattle and hogs. He was an owner/operator of a semi, delivering freight all over the United States. In 2008, he sold his truck and drove for STS Transportation, where he retired in 2014.
Doug enjoyed coffee at Casey's in the morning, spending time at the casino, mowing his yard, walking Snoozie and Koko, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie Leggett; children, Todd (Rita) Catlett, Kim (Gerald) Shepherd, Diane (Mike) Weber, Jonathan Leggett and Jennifer (Chuck) Carley; mother, Frances Leggett; sisters, Dixie Weber and Barb (Denny) Paulson; grandchildren, Amanda (Justin) Cooper, Steven Catlett, Zachary Weber, Alison Weber, Kyle Weber, Kaylynn Stein, Jeff Jacobs, Ryan Shepherd, Corri Shepherd, Stacie (Brent) Teel and Joshua (Jolene) Grau; and great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Brantlee, Sofia, Riley, Zaelyn, Damien, Dircks, Claudia and Arianna.
He was preceded in death by his father, Stuart; father- and mother-in-law, Leroy and Virginia Forbes; and his very special uncle, Eddy Brunscheen.
