Douglas, James Richard (aka Doug)
James Richard Douglas (aka Doug), 74, of Cedar Rapids, and Merritt Island, Fla., passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Services will be held at 11 a.m.Thursday, July 28, at the First Church of the Open Bible. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors are his loving wife, Marilyn Douglas; three daughters, Tammi (Sonnie) Crawford, Kathy Moss and Meta (Tim) Allen; and two sons, Rodney Douglas and Jim (Becky) Metcalf.
James was preceded in death by his parents along with several brothers and sisters.
James was born Jan. 15, 1937, in Albia, Iowa, the son of John and Bertha Fraizer Douglas. He married Marilyn Freese on June 8, 1990, in Cedar Rapids. James served his country honorably in the United States Army. He worked for Hy-Vee, before retiring after 32 years. Some of James's favorite pastimes were fishing and camping, but above all he loved spending time in church and also with his grandchildren.
James was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by all who loved him. He is now with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, whom he loved with all of his heart.
