On Dec 27, 2024, Doug Hughes, at the age of 73, went to be with the Lord. He was born in Cedar Rapids, IA, July 24, 1951.
A Celebration of Life is February 1st from 3pm-5pm at Cheyenne Hills Church, 7505 US Highway 30.
Doug is survived by his wife Susan; his daughter Trisha Hughes; grandchildren Brianna, James, LJ and Avana and great-granddaughter Jamiaha; stepkids Conor, Jeff; and step-grandkids Brenna, Remy and Lyndia; brothers, Donnie, David, Dennis, Rick and Eugene; and sisters, Glenda, Marla, Arlea and Dianna.
He is preceded in death by parents Carol and Dean, stepfather Raymond, daughter Tammy, and brothers Ray, Leroy and Randy.
Doug graduated from Kennedy High school and then worked at Cherry Burrell. Doug in the late 80s headed West and lived in Arizona, Colorado and Wyoming. Doug's greatest joy was writing for and singing to the Lord. He was a member of worship teams in several churches, the most recent at Cheyenne Hills. He wrote and published two books: “Poems, Prayers and Promises” and “My All For Your Glory”. Doug loved to make people laugh and tell them of his love for the Lord. He will be missed by all who knew him.
