Douglas Anthony Hessing, 58, of Central City, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Celebration of Life will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at Horseshoe Falls Lodge in Pinicon Ridge Park, Central City.
Doug is survived by his son, Ian (Kari) Hessing; granddaughters, Kaylee, Cadence and Clover; sisters, Sue (Ralph) Shaw and Jill Parham; one niece; three nephews; and several cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, John Parham.
Doug was born July 22, 1958, in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Donald and Joyce (Norton) Hessing. He worked in the purchasing department at J&P Cycles for 25 years. Doug was a motorcycle enthusiast.
He enjoyed mowing his lawn, loved his family and friends, and the many memories of canoeing and camping. Doug was a very proud grandpa. All who knew him will miss his wonderful laugh and one-liners.
