DOUGLAS WILLIAM HARTWELL

Douglas William Hartwell, 67, of Toledo, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at the Tama Legion, 1105 E. Fifth St., Tama. Memorial gifts can be directed to the Douglas William Hartwell memorial fund at the State Bank of Toledo, 100 E. High St., P.O. Box 309, Toledo, IA 52342.
Doug was born Feb. 4, 1950, in Albert Lea, Minn. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1969. On July 3, 1971, he married Patricia McNally in Marshalltown. He moved to Toledo in 1976. Doug retired in 2005 from Fisher Controls in Marshalltown, after 37 1/2 years. He enjoyed Mexican food, woodworking, local auto racing and watching NASCAR on TV.
Preceding him in death were his maternal and paternal grandparents and his parents, Orville Hartwell and Beverly (Fox) McDowell.
Survivors include wife, Patricia (McNally) Hartwell, Toledo; brother, Willard Hartwell (Dianna), The Colony, Texas; daughter, Heather (Lee) Moore, Cedar Rapids; son, Douglas Eric Hartwell, Henderson, Nev.; son, Patrick Hartwell, Liscomb; grandchildren, Justin and Jenna Moore and Kadence and Lucas Hartwell; and many friends.
