Douglas F. Goodfellow, 87, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. A Time of Remembrance will follow at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Doug's name.
Doug was born June 9, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Thomas and Connie (Coon) Goodfellow. He was a graduate of University High School and attended the University of Iowa. Doug served in the U.S. Navy. On Dec. 27, 1955, Doug married Margaret Amish in Iowa City.
Doug owned and operated Goodfellow Printing for 43 years, retiring in 1996.
Doug was proud to be an Honorary University of Iowa Letterman, an assistant for golf for the University of Iowa Athletics Department, and a spotter for many Iowa sporting events. He loved the Hawkeyes. He was a founding member of the Garden Club and a life-long member of the Elks Club. In his earlier years, Doug enjoyed time spent on the golf course, and building computers, stereo and radio sets from Heath kits. He always enjoyed the many gatherings of family and neighborhood friends throughout the year. He also loved to follow the activities of his grandchildren.
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Marge and their children, Cathi Goodfellow, Bob (Renee) Goodfellow, Terri Goodfellow, Andrew Goodfellow and Brad (Mary) Goodfellow, all of Iowa City, Janet Goodfellow Zarate (Pete), and Lisa Goodfellow of Chicago; seven grandchildren, Bailee, Madison, Kayla, J.D., Rylee, Claire and Juju; two great-grandchildren, C.C. and Dean; his sister, Susan (Dennis) Havel of Aurora, Colo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents and his sister and brother-in-law, Judy (Don) Nelson.
