DOUGLAS A. "DOUG" ROBERTSON Iowa City Douglas A. "Doug" Robertson, 55, of Iowa City, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017, at Atrium Village, Hills. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, with Father Phillips officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to create a scholarship with the Iowa City School District. Doug was born in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Donald and Ellen (Huffer) Robertson. He graduated from West High School and received a certificate in architectural drafting through Kirkwood Community College. Doug was united in marriage to Karen Babcock on May 24, 1986, in Iowa City. He worked for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic for 21 years, before leaving because of disability. Doug was a volunteer for Grant Wood Elementary and UIHC. He also was active in Relay for Life. Doug had a sweet and gentle demeanor and was willing to help anyone in need. He especially enjoyed helping children. He always maintained a positive attitude while battling every ailment thrown his way. Doug is survived by his wife, Karen; two sons, Andrew (Amanda) and Tyler (Bailea Prosser), both of Iowa City; three grandchildren; mother, Ellen of Coralville; two brothers, Dallas (Carole) and David (Cindy), both of Iowa City; and many extended family. Doug was preceded in death by his father and sister, Diana. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.lensingfuneral.com.
