Douglas A. Carder, 60, of Tiffin, formerly of North English, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, from complications of cancer.
Douglas Alan Carder was born June 16, 1956, in Sigourney, Iowa, the son of Billy and Patricia (Brennan) Carder. He graduated from Millersburg High School in 1974 and Kirkwood Community College. Doug worked for L.D. Express in North Liberty and in facilities at the University of Iowa for 31 years, retiring in 2012. He was a member of the Millersburg United Methodist Church.
Doug is survived by his mother, Patricia, and stepfather Robert Faas of Ladora; an uncle, Bob (Carolyn) Brennan of Deep River; a sister, Linda Bock of Tiffin; three brothers, Dan (Connie) Carder of Coralville, Scott (Jacki) Carder of Williamsburg and James (Sandy) Carder of Gray, Maine; stepsisters, Denise Terry of Davenport, Diane Davis of St. Croix, Wis., Darcy (Doug) Knoll of Millersburg and Donita (Tim) Huegel of Newton; stepbrothers Doug (Judi) Faas of Evansdale, Dale (Lauri) Faas and Danny Faas of Ladora; and 30 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Ruth Brennan; and paternal grandparents, Wilfred and Louise Carder.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at Powell Funeral Home, North English. A general memorial fund has been established. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
