Douglas J. Biedenbach, 50, of Schaumburg, Ill., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center. Graveside services at 11 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Kelli; their two children, Cassidy and Cole; his parents, John and Linda of Marion; two brothers, Jeff (Sarah) of Marion and David (Erin) of Ames; and two sisters, Kathy (Rick) Brown of Marion and Joan (Mark) Tesdahl of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a nephew, Connor.
Doug was born May 22, 1966, in Cedar Rapids, the son of John "Jack" and Linda Ellingson Biedenbach. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School and attended Iowa State University, the University of Iowa and received his master's degree from Michigan State University in pharmacology. He married Kelli A. Pauly on Oct. 9, 1993, in Dubuque.
Doug was the director of scientific information at International Health Management Associates for four years. He was a very respected and gifted scientist who published over 170 papers and articles in medical journals.
He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and was an Eagle Scout. Doug was an avid Cub, Blackhawk and Steeler fan. He enjoyed fishing, camping and especially the time spent with his beloved family and many friends. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Doug's children for their education.
