DorRene Mau, 71, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, May 1, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Mark's United Methodist Church by Pastor Bonnie Koeppen. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Mark's United Methodist Church and on Wednesday after 9 a.m. at the church.
DorRene is survived by her husband, Bill; son, Richard (Tonya) Morehouse of Spring, Texas, and their children, London of Ames, Scout of Marion and Sydney, of Spring, Texas; daughter, Sara (Joseph) Freese, and their children, Skyler and Gavin, of Amarillo, Texas; sister-in-law, Linda Elliott of Iowa City; brother-in-law, Ken Lee of Shenandoah; and nephews and niece, Chad, Brian and Mark Lee and Brian Elliott and Angie Moore.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Doris Elliott; mother- and father-in-law, Margaret and Chester Mau; brother, Edward Elliott; and sister-in-law, Marilyn K. Lee.
DorRene was born May 5, 1944, in New York City, the daughter of Harry and Doris Windblade Elliott. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1962 and Coe College St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1965. DorRene married Bill Mau on June 17, 1977, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. She worked at St. Luke's Hospital as a night nursing supervisor for 44 years, retiring in 2010.
DorRene was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, where she was active in its African ministry.
DorRene enjoyed gardening, making crafts and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
