DOROTHY "JUNE" WELLS

Dorothy "June" Wells, 81, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Cincinnati, Iowa, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at her home after a short battle with cancer and Parkinson's disease. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, with visitation one hour before the service. Burial: Palo Cemetery.
June was born April 13, 1935, the daughter of Nelson and Gladys Marie (Langguth) Stookey in Palo. She graduated from Franklin High School in Cedar Rapids. In 1953, June was married to William Wells. She worked for Square D in Cedar Rapids for 36 years.
June loved to travel and went on many cruises. She was very talented with her quilting, crocheting and knitting. June was a member of the Cincinnati United Methodist Church and the hospital auxiliary in Centerville.
Survivors include her daughter, Janet (Lance Beck) Bartz; sister, Marilyn Sonnemann; two half sisters; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cincinnati United Methodist Church in memory of June.
