Dorothy "Dottie" V. Sampson, 71, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, July 25, 2014.
She was born Aug. 11, 1942, in Colesburg, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Dola (Gull) Sampson. Dorothy graduated with honors from Colesburg Consolidated School. Dorothy was employed for 33 years at the Northern District of Iowa U.S. Probation Office in Cedar Rapids and retired in 2006.
Dorothy was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids.
She enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards, the Iowa Hawkeyes and most of all, treasured her family.
Survivors include her sister, Ardyce Wilson, Princeton, Kan.; two brothers, Milton (Kitty) Sampson, Ottawa, Kan., and Floyd (Gwen) Sampson, Colesburg; nieces and nephews, Perry (Elaine) Sampson, Lynne (Doug) Melchert, Mary Jo (Chris) Larsen, Chuck (Meg) Wilson, Cindi (Mark) Dryden, Andy (Angela) Sampson, Stephen (friend Lisa) Sampson, Katherine (friend John) Sampson; several great-nieces and great-nephews; plus an unborn great-great-niece.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents and brother-in-law, Max Wilson.

Funeral services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, at the Colesburg United Methodist Church, by Joan Thomas. Visitation: 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Interment: Zion Cemetery, rural Colesburg.
