Dorothy Miller Rogers, 91, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
A life celebration service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Reed Stockman will officiate at the services.
Surviving are three children, Trudy (Joel) Wilson, Miles, Marty (Susan) Miller, Moline, Ill., and Donna (Don) Moriarty, Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two stepchildren, Ron (Linda) Rogers, Cedar Rapids, and Evelyn (Jim) Buol, Atalissa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Don Miller and Floyd Rogers; and her sister, Betty Melsha.
Dorothy Rose Bartlett was born Aug. 6, 1926, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Brian and Gertrude Lambert Bartlett. Dorothy graduated from Monticello Community Schools, Class of 1944. She married Don Miller on Aug. 16, 1944, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. The couple lived in Monticello and Dorothy was the office manager at Dayton Yousse Refrigeration and later at Job Service of Iowa.
Don preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 1989.
In 1996, Dorothy and a friend attended the Seniors Prom in Monticello, where she met Floyd Rogers. They were married Aug. 11, 1996. They enjoyed their life together until Floyd's death in 2011.
Dorothy was always first a mother and wife. She enjoyed cooking, baking and canning for her family. She also loved to crochet and sew.
