Dorothy Jean Pratt, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, June 15, 2014, in the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where a visitation will begin at 10 a.m. The Rev. Dennis Cahill will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her sisters, Dolores Prucha, Theresa Schmickel and Betty Plavak; a brother, Leo Wood; and a sister-in-law, Cam Wood.
Also surviving are many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Gerald and Willa O'Conner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allison Ralph Pratt; a sister, Henrietta Michael; and brothers, LeRoy Wood and Joe Wood.
Dorothy was born Aug. 8, 1922, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Everett and Florence (Reiley) Wood. She married Allison Ralph Pratt on Sept. 10, 1951, in Walker, Iowa. Dorothy worked for Rock Island Motor for several years and later was a business partner with her husband, Allison, building homes. She also was a beautician. Dorothy was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
She loved to go fishing and enjoy a beer with friends. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Please leave a message on the website www.
