Dorothy M. Morris, 95, of Walker, Iowa, died Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha, Iowa.
Dorothy was born on Oct. 29, 1920, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Harlan L. and Gladys M. (Robinson) Smith. She moved with her family to multiple places prior to settling in Viola, Iowa, where she graduated from Viola High School in 1938. She became employed with the Linn County Courthouse for several years prior to her marriage to Ivan O. Morris on Aug. 18, 1942. The couple farmed in Linn County prior to owning and operating the Morris International Harvester Dealership. Following that, she became employed as a bookkeeper with Light Implement, and later with the Nu Mac Feed Mill in Walker, Iowa.
Dorothy is survived by two children, Norma Jean Jacobs, Cedar Rapids, and Marvin (Linda) Morris, Hudson, Iowa; five grandchildren, Todd (Christa) Jacobs, Timothy (Amanda) Jacobs, Rodney (Melainie) Morris, Teresa (Ryan) Hanna and Jennifer Morris; seven great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; one stepgreat-great-grandchild; a sister, Harlene Bray, Kenmore, Wash.; and a sister-in-law, Bernice Smith, Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ivan O. Morris, on Sept. 21, 1994; a son-in-law, Kenneth Jacobs; and two brothers, Clarence and Kenneth Smith.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Shiloh Cemetery, Hiawatha, with the Rev. Casey Reinkoster officiating. Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
