Dorothy Faye Miller (nee Koep) of Grinnell, formerly of Cedar Rapids and Belle Plaine, passed away Sept. 17, 2017, at age 94.
Born Aug. 4, 1923, in Keystone, Iowa, to Louie and Amelia Koep, Dorothy graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1944, then enlisted in the Army, serving as a nurse and second lieutenant. She married Thomas A. Miller on her birthday in 1947. She worked as a nurse at St. Luke's Hospital until 1980, when macular degeneration caused her to retire.
Dorothy amazed everyone with her ability to adjust to her limited vision. She enjoyed traveling, walking, listening to books on tape, knitting and gardening.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Miller; son, Craig Miller; sister, Millie Schild; and brother, Stanley Koep.
She is survived by sons, Grant (Barbara) Miller and Kent (Cheryl) Miller of California; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 21, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.
